Background preparation for platform upgrades
A whole bunch of behind-the-scenes code cleanup, dependency upgrades and refactoring in preparation for some larger platform improvements coming soon.
These particular 3rd party dependencies are not currently compatible with the next version of Ruby on Rails, our core framework so we needed to remove them and implement the behaviour they provided by other means.
This was primarily related to the way that we queue and purge our CDN cache when your status page is updated.
