Bug fixes ready for platform upgrades

Following our update last week, which allows us to better test our application using different versions of Ruby on Rails, we have today pushed a bunch of fixes to code that was not compatible with the next version.

This is all preparation for some upcoming platform upgrades aimed at keeping the application performant, reliable and secure.

There are no visible or impactful changes for customers in this release.
